What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy is the authoritative document for how Y-Smart Chat collects, uses, stores, shares, and deletes personal data.

  • Approximate location inferred from your IP address and related connection metadata (see see Privacy Policy: Approximate Location)
  • Service logs for operation, security, and troubleshooting

We do not require sensitive government identifiers at signup.


Approximate Location

We determine the general area from which you access Y-Smart Chat based on information like your IP address and related connection metadata provided by our hosting infrastructure. This is approximate location (such as country, region, or city), not precise device location.

We use approximate location to improve your experience, including to provide more relevant responses when you ask location-related questions (for example, local weather, news, or nearby places). Approximate location may be included as context in requests routed to AI providers for the current conversation.

What we do not do:

  • We do not request access to your device's GPS, browser geolocation APIs, or other precise location features
  • We do not ask you to turn on device-level location sharing for this purpose
  • We do not sell approximate location as a standalone data product

Approximate location is derived per request when you use the service. It is not maintained as a separate standing location profile on your account, though it may appear in standard service logs under our normal retention practices (see see Privacy Policy: Data Retention and Deletion).

How We Use Your Information

We use personal data to provide the service, maintain saved chat context, operate accounts and billing, provide support, prevent abuse, and comply with law. This includes using approximate location (see see Privacy Policy: Approximate Location) to improve response relevance for location-related prompts.

Access to conversations

We access message or account data only when necessary for:

  • Support (when you request help)
  • Abuse prevention (investigation of abuse, spam, or policy violations)
  • Legal compliance (lawful requests and legal obligations)

How We Protect Your Data

  • Data in transit uses industry-standard TLS where supported
  • Stored data uses access controls limited to operational need
  • We maintain and update security controls on an ongoing basis

If we learn of a serious incident affecting personal data, we take steps required by law and notify affected users where required by law.


Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or object to certain processing.

Submit requests to support@y-smart.chat. We may require identity verification before fulfilling access or deletion requests. We respond within a few business days under normal operation.

  • Authentication and billing (e.g., Clerk, Stripe): see each provider's privacy policy
  • Analytics: aggregated usage metrics

How we share information

  • Service providers: hosting, analytics, AI routing, payments (operational necessity only)
  • Professional advisors: when required
  • Legal and safety: lawful requests, abuse prevention, rights protection
  • Business transfers: with notice where required

Cookies

Cookies and local storage support sign-in, preferences, and basic usage measurement. Approximate location is described in see Privacy Policy: Approximate Location.

Other notices

  • Do Not Track: not currently honored
  • International processing: data may be processed in the U.S. and other provider regions
  • Children: not intended for users under 13
  • Policy updates: material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, in-app or email notice
